Webinar “Global Transformations and Global Challenges”


The current pandemic situation becomes a trigger for systemwide global problems, that had appeared in the focus of academic and political discussion long before the current pandemic situation. However, now, when nation-states are passing the resilience test, the attention to the viability and potential of supranational institutions and international organizations is growing, the problematic agenda of the global world is getting aggravated.

On 25 June at 3pm (Moscow Time), the Center for Crisis Society Studies, the Scientific and practical peer-reviewed journal “Kontury global'nykh transformatsii: politika, ekonomika, pravo” (“Outlines of global transformations: politics, economics, law”) and the Public Policy Department, Faculty of Political Science, Lomonosov Moscow State University will hold a webinar exploring the impact of the global changes on governance, international relations and opportunities for public policy.

The current pandemic situation becomes a trigger for systemwide global problems, that had appeared in the focus of academic and political discussion long before the current pandemic situation. However, now, when nation-states are passing the resilience test, the attention to the viability and potential of supranational institutions and international organizations is growing, the problematic agenda of the global world is getting aggravated.

We suggest observing it on a global and regional level, focusing on the following issues:

  • “Bellum omnium contra omnes” or “New bipolar world”: what are the main features of the existing world order and the main trends for its transformation?
  • Is China ready for a world leadership and what are the prospect for a “new cold war”?
  • Africa, Europe and Eurasia as the arenas for confrontation and cooperation
  • Global Governance: functions, restrictions and sources of legitimacy
